Free early Hanukkah concert in Durham NC: Levin JCC, November 18, 3:30

Pianist Aviva Enoch and Jane Peppler, with world music band Mappamundi, made a cd this summer called "Mrs Maccabee's Kitchen: New Hanukah Songs." The two of us are giving a free one-hour cd release preview concert at the Levin Jewish Community Center on Sunday November 18 2012 at 3:30 pm. The address is 1937 West Cornwallis Road, Durham, NC and their phone number is (919) 354-4936.

The album, which would make a GREAT Hanukkah gift, mixes obscure stories of the season (real and imagined) with an eclectic assortment of melodies (folk tunes, ragtime and blues, tangos, swing tunes, even a lonesome cowboy ballad). It's funny, fresh Chanukah music and would make a light-hearted, occasionally irreverent addition to your fine Jewish holiday. Aren't you tired of the same old songs? For more information, see newhanukahsongs.com or contact me at jane@mappamundi.com.

Directly afterwards, at 4:30 pm, Frank Stasio of The State of Things and Rabbi Steve Sager will be presenting "A Conversation on the State of Faith" right across the hall in the same building.

You can preview the album, or buy it, at our record label website. Here, have a listen:
